We’ve not yet come across a business in the current market that isn’t going through change.

Cultural transformation, business-critical strategic initiatives, restructures – irrespective of the change, an imperative component of successful change management is executive alignment.

Most execs today know the importance of being aligned and understand that strategies,

resources and processes need to be effectively arranged to support the companies’ purpose.

And that without this alignment, your companies’ culture will suffer. Your teams will be confused and frustrated and those everyday coffee machine conversations can very rapidly become a toxic culture that hinders productivity.

Being aligned prevents these problems. A simple model and exercise to use to align your C-suite is by bringing them together and asking:

Purpose: Why do we exist? Mission: Who are we and what do we value? Vision: What do things look like if we succeed? Strategy: How do we achieve our vision?

Before you kick off any change management process, we suggest you go through this exercise. Check out this powerful video from Cheryl Grise – Global Strategy Practice Leader for EY’s Advisory Services – which highlights the intimate connection between your purpose, mission and strategy in achieving executive alignment and success.
